·        7-14” squares of muslin- before class mark one piece of muslin with as many of the small quilting designs as possible in the back of the book.

·        12” or 14” simple pieced blocks (3” squares are fine)

Most machine quilters use something on their fingertips to help control the quilt.  Some cut off the fingers of rubber gloves, use garden gloves or the gloves available in the quilt shops which are made especially for machine quilting.  There are also finger gloves similar to the finger cots which and quilters use but much sturdier.  Some people just use a thick hand cream such as Neutrogena.  I like to use the rubber secretarial fingers on the first  2 fingers of each hand and sometimes my thumbs.

Class will consist of 2 sessions of approximately 2 hours each.  The first session will cover the brief discussion of workspace, threads, batting and preparing the quilt for quilting.  Students will participate in hands on learning of ditch, grid and continuous curve quilting techniques and move on to free motion quilting of a marked quilting design.

The second part of the class will be all free motion quilting and introduce stippling and other back ground fills, marked and unmarked feathers and outline quilting.

Class fee is due upon registration.  Cancellations at least 1 week in advance.  Due to commitment to teachers no refund is made with less notice.
